One of our main functions is to provide advice and guidance to the industry. This section provides assistance in complying with the Advertising Codes via our Guidance notes, self-help tools like Help Notes, Copy Advice service and industry training seminars.
We survey media and industry sectors to check the compliance rate and identify any potential problems. Our research is usually targeted towards sensitive sectors or those that have a history of problems.

The advertising regulatory system places greath emphasis on providing an open and balanced account of the rules contained in CAP and BCAP Codes, the way they are administered by the ASA and the emerging trends. The ASA has produced a series of summary briefing papers on some of the key areas, such as alcohol, children, environment and health and beauty.
ASA adjudications provide guidance to the industry on how the advertising codes are to be interpreted and act as a record of ASA policy for consumers, media, government and all parts of the advertising business.
